Xatspace

A xatspace is your page on xat where you can put profile information, photos, music, videos and other media. This guide will help you set up your xatspace.

Viewing a xatspace

Example of a xatspace

To view your xatspace, click your avatar. Likewise, to view someone else's xatspace, click their avatar. This will open the xatspace page. You can see what the user has displayed about themselves there.

You can also view xatspaces by using these links: xat.me/IDHERE or me.rxat.ro/USERNAMEHERE, for example: me.rxat.ro/42 or me.rxat.ro/xat.

Note: A user must be registered to have a xatspace. If you go to the xatspace of an unregistered ID, you will be redirected to the unregistered xatspace page. If you click an unregistered user's avatar, no xatspace will open.

Editing your xatspace

To edit your xatspace, go to rxat.ro/editme and log in using your registered username and password. From there, you will see different settings and boxes to edit your xatspace.

It can take up to 30 minutes for your saved changes to go live. You can preview your saved changes while waiting for them to go live by clicking the "preview" button.

Settings

To learn more about each setting, click the question mark icon (?) on the edit page. You can also click the color wheel (/images/Colorwheel.png) to select a hex code where applicable.

About Me section

The xatspace "About Me" box allows you to write about yourself and insert images from URLs. There are options to format your text and paragraphs.

You can click the slider below the box to hide the "About Me" heading that appears above the content on your xatspace.

Media section

The "Media" box, which is below the "About Me" box, allows you to embed popular services and media on your xatspace using special codes. You must enable code view (Codeview.png) when adding codes for it to work. See the Special codes article for examples of content that can be embedded, along with the formatting to do so.

"Me" power

The Me power enables additional features on your xatspace:

  • xatframe - Use a xatframe instead of an outer background.
  • custom name - Use a custom name instead of the default chat nickname.
  • name glow - Add a glow around your nickname.
  • hide the navigation menu - Automatically hide the navigation menu at the top of the page, unless hovered over.

Inappropriate xatspaces

If you stumble upon a xatspace that breaks the xat Terms of Service, the CSS Guidelines or the xatframe Guidelines, click the "Inappropriate" link at the top of the page and file a report. If the user has the Me power, hover over the xat logo to see this link. Your report will be sent to xat and dealt with appropriately.

Impersonating celebrities

Xatspaces impersonating celebrities will be removed as this severely breaks our Terms of Service. However, xat supports "role-playing" and other such games on our service, and if doing so this must be clearly noted on the xatspace so other users are aware that you are not the real person. This is extremely important to keeping our service safe and fun for all users. Xatspaces not marked clearly enough will be removed at our discretion.
